Chamberlain Plastic Shine with Reznor

Wellingborough - based plastics and coatings manufacturer Chamberlain Plastics produces a variety of polyester, PVC and plastic film finishes for industries as diverse as automotive, retail and fashion. Its products are used in point of sale displays and backgrounds, and for fashion accessories such as belts, umbrellas and shoes.

Relocation to a newly-built factory in Higham Ferrers prompted the company to re-examine its heating requirements, particularly for the mixing and coating areas. Chemical by-products from these production processes demand a high degree of ventilation and fresh air intake, to create optimum air quality for staff working in those divisions.

The company sought a heating system that would economically maintain 20°C comfort temperatures with up to eight air changes per hour and air extraction facilities.

A Reznor gas-fired warm air heating system, consisting of an externally mounted EuroPak 2095-29, was installed at the new factory. The heater has a 100% fresh air capability for summer ventilation. The high extraction facilities required by the client are achieved by the addition of filters and an oxidiser which take exhaust products from the coating process, burn them off and passes them into the exhaust stack.

The Reznor heating and ventilation system achieves exactly what was specified – constant 20°C comfort temperatures and, with a high degree of extraction built into the unit heater, optimum air quality within the factory.

The system is highly economical to run, and the end-user expects to make further savings by reclaiming heat supplied to the mixing and coating areas and redirecting it to other parts of the factory.
