Reznor is the Right Medicine for Manesty

Manesty produces tablet presses and tablet coating machinery for the international pharmaceuticals market. The process is highly computerised – temperature fluctuations around the computerised plant can disturb the very fine tolerances required to produce the specialised machinery.

When Manesty relocated its high-tech premises from Speke to Knowsley on Merseyside, the company demanded very specific requirements of the heating system in the new building.

The 24,000m² factory houses production lines and heavy duty equipment such as overhead cranes. A complex set of structural steel webbing allows the cranes to slide and swivel across the factory floor, and the heating system had to take account of this feature.

A 24-hour comfort temperature of 18-20°C was the primary heating requirement. However, one area of the production line, where the computerised equipment stands, needed to maintain these temperatures, although from time to time a slighter higher 22°C is necessary. The heating system had to be capable of achieving these exacting requirements.

A Reznor warm air system consisting of eight gas-fired room-sealed unit heaters was installed. The heaters were positioned on the walls around the building at 6m from the ground.

Each heater is equipped with an Energymizor control panel and Maximizor fans suspended in the roof redistribute risen warm air to lower levels.

In the computerised production area, a Reznor Air Mixing duct was suspended above the machinery. The Reznor heating system answers all the end-user’s specific requirements for constant comfort temperatures throughout the building. Compact warm air heaters were also positioned underneath the mezzanine floor area to ensure even heat coverage without cold spots in ‘hard-to-heat’ areas.

The Air Mixing duct in the production area has perforations along its length through which warm is forced, producing an immediate mix with room air. This ensures that when a slightly higher temperature gradient is required in the production area, it can be achieved quickly and easily, creating the necessary ‘micro climate’ in one section of the large factory.
