Reznor in Control at Warehousing Facility

Maintaining a constant internal temperature of around 14°C was the challenge facing the M&E contractors when designing a heating system for a new single storey warehousing and distribution centre in the Fox Milne area of Milton Keynes. The owners required a highly economical heating solution, with minimisation of greenhouse gas emissions.

The 9,266m² cladded steel structure has a barrel roof with a maximum height of 16 metres at the apex. A two-storey office complex is also incorporated into the building.

The tenanted premises are currently occupied by Orion Media Marketing, which specialises in the storage and packing of computer peripherals for onward delivery to retailers. The presence of racking storage systems also had to be taken into account in the choice and design of the heating system.

A Reznor warm air heating system was the ideal solution for the requirements of the building and its occupier. A total of eight Reznor Euro X1075S gas-fired unit heaters were installed, mounted at 11 metres from floor level.

In addition, 28 Reznor Maximizor recirculation fans were installed in the roof to redistribute risen warm air throughout the warehousing facility and provide even temperature coverage.

Each heater was fitted with an individual Reznor Energymizor III control panel. These are positioned immediately below the unit to ensure the best representation of temperature at all times.

The Reznor system successfully meets all the requirements of the occupier for a relatively low operating temperature of 14°C. The X1075S models are equipped with high quality axial fans to provide good air distribution at low noise levels.

In combination with the other building services, the Reznor system reduces overall fuel consumption and therefore the emission of ozone depleting gases, in line with the intention of the Climate Change Levy.
